What Can We Do – Internationally: Some Simple Steps

  1. Pick one part of the world and learn about it. Perhaps pick a country that one of your grandparents or great-grandparents came from. Learn about the culture, the arts, the politics of that region, and if possible, visit it. Try to understand how people from that region see the world, what their concerns are, what their hopes are.
  2. Learn about one of the immigrant populations in your community, if there are any. Find out about their background, where specifically they’re from, what their culture is like, what their songs and music are like. Go to events that they sponsor, and if possible, get to know some of them on a personal level by spending time in their shops or restaurants.
  3. Join organizations that are involved in international peacebuilding (see the list in the resources section) and contribute your money or energy to their projects.
