Key definitions

Peacebuilding –  acting in such a way that the well-being of all participants is enhanced.  Peacebuilding is not simply avoiding violence; it is seeking to ensure that all involved are fully expressing their needs and wishes and working through conflicts to arrive at deeper justice and harmony. 

Violence – that which causes harm, to persons, the environment, or to groups.  There are three types of violence:  physical, psychological, institutional (policies or institutional actions that harm groups).
